Are you open to a miracle in your life?

The first Wednesday of the Month, (beginning in October, 2010) you are invited to join us for the Celebration of Eucharist, and an opportunity for prayer for the great outpouring of God’s love through the power of the Holy Spirit.  In this prayer, we surrender to the will of God in our lives, all the while asking for the gift of miracles of healing in body, mind, heart and soul.

The truth is, God continues to work miracles in our lives all the time.  Yet in times of struggle, whether spiritual, emotional, or physical, we often can be in need prayerful and spiritual reminders of His constant care for us.  Through the power of prayer, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we open our lives to how God will manifest his healing in us.  This grace d knows no size, big or small, it is simply surrender to how God will choose to work at this moment in time.  You are invited to, through prayer and surrender, to give up our control and give permission to work in us.

What happens?

We gather for the celebration of Eucharist, the greatest miracle of all, and are fed by the Lord in body and spirit.  Following our celebration of Eucharist, you are invited, if you choose, to come forward to be anointed.  After the anointing, you are further invited to approach a prayer team for further and deeper prayer.  These teams will be made up of lay persons who have experience is praying with people.  The team may be completely made of laity, or there could be a priest, deacon or religious present.

Upon coming to the team, you share with them briefly what you are requesting prayer for.  They will anoint you with oil as an expression of faith.  (This time of prayer should not be confused with the celebration of Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.).  After a time of prayer, you are invited to find a place in the church to “rest in the grace of God’s outpouring love” and continue your prayer.  As others approach the prayer teams, you may remain and pray in communion with and for them , or depart as your need arises.

You are anointed with oil.

It is not the oil, or the signing of the cross with it, nor the laying on of hands that cures or causes the miracle.  These are sacramental signs, gestures and symbols of faith, that help us be open to the power of God in our lives.
